Denji from Chainsaw Man and Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen Have One Distinctive Similarity

Chainsaw Man’s Denji and Jujutsu Kaisen’s Gojo Satoru don’t seem to have much in common, but one unique experience unites the two beloved characters.

Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man helped to pioneer the darker, more subversive shounen anime trend that has been on the rise. These two “dark trio of shounen” anime shows use more somber themes to provide the audience a new, bloody perspective on the genre. As a result, JJK and CSM share several traits with one another.

The two characters Gojo Satoru and Denji seem to be the complete antithesis of one another, with the exception of their shared love of slaughtering the monsters of their own universes. There isn’t much opportunity for comparison as Chainsaw Man’s Denji is a naive schoolboy defined by poverty while Jujutsu Kaisen’s Gojo is a wealthy, unbeatable mentor. But the two do have one experience: they both became guardians of children at a young age.

1. Gojo Became Megumi Fushiguro’s Father Figure in Jujutsu Kaisen

The “Gojo’s Past” arc of Jujutsu Kaisen takes place in 2006 when Geto Suguru and Gojo were given the responsibility of bringing Riko Amanai, the Star Plasma Vessel, to Jujutsu High as pupils. However, Toji Fushiguro attacked them, and this expedition ended in failure. The assassin came dangerously close to killing Gojo and succeeded in killing Riko, but the sorcerer didn’t think twice about exacting revenge. Gojo repaired the injuries he sustained from Toji after learning how to perform the reverse cursed technique, then he followed the assassin as he delivered Riko’s body.

With his newly discovered power, Gojo confronted Toji and killed him, but in the assassin’s last breath, he revealed that his son, Megumi, would soon be sold to the Zenin family. Gojo tracked down the first-grader a year later and discovered him going home from school. Gojo took Megumi under his wing and pledged to take care of everything to make sure the youngster grew up to be a wonderful sorcerer, unlike his father.

The older sorcerer was only in his third year of high school at this point, which made him about 18 years old. It is too early to assume responsibility for a child’s welfare, but Megumi’s father abandoned him, and the last thing Gojo wanted was for the vicious ideology of the Zenin Clan to damage him. Since Megumi was the son of the guy who stole everything from him, the sorcerer committed his life to ensure that he had a better upbringing.

2. Denji Was Trusted With Nayuta’s Care in Chainsaw Man

Nayuta was taken by Captain Kishibe as soon as she made her discovery so that Denji could nurture her as his younger sibling. Denji had already begun caring for Makima’s seven dogs and Power’s cat Meowy after Makima passed away. Denji, 16, was also now in charge of caring for the Control Devil’s reincarnation on top of everything else. He was given custody of the child in the belief that Denji might prevent Nayuta from having the same outcome as Makima. Denji learned about the girl’s desire for a family and for equitable relationships from Pochita, who also urged him to give her lots of hugs to make her dream come true.

Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Gojo and Chainsaw Man‘s Denji took on this obligation as teenagers, both doing so to give the children their best possible futures instead of leaving them to a darker fate. This is a lot for two young people to take on, yet it is a responsibility these powerful characters share respectively.
